Founder, CFO, Director of Sales
#TeamTilghman all started with Bob and his wife Joanne! He was originally a cabinet maker. His passion for building started his senior year of high school where he constructed a grandfather clock. Joanne and Bob also built most of their furniture in the year before they got married. He quickly realized it would be tough to make a living with cabinet making, so he shifted focus to carpentry and remodeling work.
Lead Designer
Joanne Tilghman, affectionately known as "Jo," serves as the Chief Design Officer here at Tilghman Builders. Her roots trace back to Hatboro, where she spent her formative years and attended Upper Moreland High School. It was in this very town that she met her life partner, Bob, and together they built a life, raised their children, and established Tilghman Builders.
CEO
Eric grew up in Churchville, met his wife, and had three beautiful children, who are his guiding lights in life. After living in Glenside with his wife and kids for ten years, he has recently moved his family into the Horsham area.
Eric’s been working in the construction business since he was 13 years old – that’s not a typo either! He advanced to the Lead Carpenter position, which he held for 12 years, and enjoyed all aspects of carpentry. He paved his way to step out of the field to become the company's first Operations Manager in 2020, where he found his true passion for team building, improving business systems, and growing the family business.
Operations Manager
Meet John-Peter Melle, affectionately known as J.P., a vital force within the Tilghman Builders family where he handles all things Operations. With a name that echoes his Irish and Italian heritage, J.P. brings a unique blend of skills and passions to #TeamTilghman. J.P. miraged his skills from being hands-on out in the field of construction to overseeing the day-to-day project management and operations of all active job sites for #TeamTilghman.
His standout abilities in his people and problem-solving skills make him the perfect man for the job. He makes sure that each project under his watch not only meets but exceeds expectations. From navigating complex challenges to fostering a collaborative team environment, J.P. is a linchpin in the success of #TeamTilghman. What J.P. cherishes most about his role is the opportunity to help shape and build the culture of #TeamTilghman. As a key figure in the organization, he takes pride in nurturing an environment where each team member contributes to the collective success, creating a workplace that feels like a second home.
Beyond the construction site, J.P. finds solace and joy in the great outdoors where he thrives in the open air. His greatest joy, however, comes from spending quality time with his son, creating memories that will last a lifetime. He carries a diverse set of interests that add layers to his personality. A former rugby player, he brings tenacity and team spirit from the field into his professional life. J.P. also harbors a soft spot for Dungeons and Dragons, a side of him that often surprises those who only see the construction expert on the job. Additionally, he's an avid Sixers fan, bringing a bit of the Philadelphia sports spirit to the Tilghman Builders family.
While J.P. loves his current role, there's a side of him that yearns for the hands-on aspect of building. His heart still longs for the feeling of being out in the field and crafting something tangible with his own two hands. Looking ahead, J.P. has set his sights on an ambitious yet good-natured goal: to take Eric Tilghman's job a couple more times. It's a testament to his drive, ambition, and commitment to the continued success of Tilghman Builders.

Around here, Eric goes by ‘Jay.’ An odd nickname for ‘Eric’ you would initially think - but the history behind the name shows the true heart and culture of #TeamTilghman. Eric has been with Tilghman Builders since he was 16 (now that’s some loyalty!), often working on jobs with the other long-standing Eric here. It proved to get confusing having two guys with the same name, on the same job, so the nickname ‘Jay’ emerged to provide a more professional edge to the previous moniker, ‘Junior.’
His attention to detail and passion for efficiency transcend outside the world of construction, where he enjoys completing projects around his home, landscaping and playing sports. Bucks County born and raised, eldest sibling to three, and dad of one, Jay insists he’s younger than his grey hairs claim! Three of his main goals in life are to continue to build his family, achieve financial stability, and to guide his son and future children to be positive and contributing forces to society.
Business Manager

Beyond his exceptional organizational skills, Al shines in the realm of customer service. His commitment to providing people with a positive experience is reflected in his unwavering dedication to meeting Tilghman Builders’ client and employee needs. He exceeds expectations, making him a key player in fostering strong client relationships.
Al is a man of diverse interests and hobbies. Outside the office, Al channels his energy towards making a positive impact in his community. A proud volunteer with the Bucks County Housing Agency, he devotes some of his free time to helping with the elderly food pantry. You may also find him indulging in his love for car shows, navigating the open waters on his boat, casting lines while fishing, embracing the sun and surf at the beach, and carving through the snow on a snowboard during winter adventures. His exceptional skills, combined with his dedication to community service make him an indispensable member of the Tilghman Builders family and #TeamTilghman.
